Meet The Lab Man

Meet Steve Hamilton, Ph.D., Charter Member of ALA. While he is not a Caped Crusader, he is our resident Renaissance Man, alternatively exploring the outer bounds of Siberia and Patagonia to leading the expedition into the emerging and equally exciting field of laboratory automation technologies.

In the early 2000s, Steve served ALA as a creative change maker, delivering fresh thinking and energy that has put ALA on an impressive path to success.

It is with those two attributes, along with Steve’s inherent knowledge of the field of laboratory automation and technology, that ALA has tapped him as The Lab Man. We know you will enjoy his scientific knowledge, experiential learnings, and dry wit.

After years in the drug discovery world, heading many leading-edge automation projects for companies such as Eli Lilly, Scitec and Amgen, Steve now has his own consulting firm (Sanitas Consulting, Boulder, CO). He received his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Purdue University and a B.S. in Chemistry from Southeast Missouri State University. Steve is the recipient of many prestigious awards that are significant to his role as The Lab Man, including the 1986 Pioneer in Laboratory Robotics Award and others.

We welcome Steve to the role of The Lab Man, and look forward to his thoughts, ideas and leadership. Knowledge of his creativity makes us especially look forward to his monthly Lab Man Podcast.
